Ruppiner plate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ruppiner Platte is an approximately 400 km², slightly hilly ground moraine plate in the southern part of the Ruppiner Land , north of the Rhinluches in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district . It forms a natural area in the North Brandenburg plateau and hill country .

In the north the landscape borders on the Wittstock-Ruppiner Heide , in the west the plate merges into the Dossiederung . Due to the fertile soil, it is used almost exclusively for agriculture. The eastern part of the Platte is crossed by the Rhin at the Ruppiner See . The Ruppiner Platte together with the Granseer Platte , Rüthnicker Heide and Wittstock-Ruppiner Heide form the main natural unit of the Ruppiner Heiden and Platten .

The only forest area is the Grünaue forest , a 3000 hectare forest area southeast of Neustadt . Part of the slab, the Wahlendorfer Luch north of Neuruppin , is designated as an FFH area . In the west of the landscape there is special protection for the nature reserve “Bückwitzer See and Rohrlacker Graben”.
