history

Castle Hotel Groß Plasten

In 1284, the villages of Groß- and Klein-Plasten first appeared in a document, five years later the current district of Deven. The Groß Plastener Church was the first Renaissance building with a dome in Mecklenburg. The stone church in the district of Deven dates from the second half of the 13th century, its northern crypt annex from the 17th century. In 1986 she received a wooden belfry.

The single-storey manor house Groß Plasten was built in 1751 as a plastered building with a mansard roof in the Baroque style. In the middle of the 19th century, Michael’s family, who owned the estate until 1945, added a two-storey transverse building with a lake terrace. The renovations carried out from 1891 to 1893 were led by the secret senior building officer Georg Daniel . Today the Schlosshotel Groß Plasten is located here.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Deven and on January 1, 1974 the municipality of Klein Plasten were incorporated.

Agriculture traditionally plays a major role in Groß Plasten, due to the favorable traffic situation, a number of commercial businesses have settled in recent years, and several single and multi-family houses have been built. Groß Plasten is a primary school location, and there is also a daycare center.
