Grapzow is a municipality in the northeast of the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is located north of Neubrandenburg . Until January 1, 2004, the community was part of the Tollensetal office and has since been part of the Treptower Tollensewinkel office , based in Altentreptow .

Geography and traffic

Grapzow is three kilometers northeast of Altentreptow. Landesstraße 35 (formerly Bundesstraße 96 ) runs west of the municipality. The federal highway 20 runs through the municipality. It can be reached via the Altentreptow connection . The community is located on the Treptower Werder, a lowland between Tollense , Großem Landgraben and Kleinem Landgraben . There are three longer streets in the village (Long Street, Short Street and Pfarrhof).

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE GRAPZOW • LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".

economy

In 2013, the Werder / Kessin wind farm, the largest wind farm in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to date, was officially put into operation. In addition to the 28 wind turbines from Enercon , a one megawatt hydrogen storage system was installed with which the storage of wind power in the form of power-to-gas is to be tested.
