Südmüritz is a municipality in the southwest of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which was created on May 26, 2019 through the merger of the municipalities Ludorf and Vipperow . The community is administered by the Office Röbel-Müritz with its seat in the city of Röbel / Müritz . In the run-up to the foundation of the church, the names "Müritz-Süd" and "Kranichort / Müritz" were also discussed.

The community is located southeast of Röbel / Müritz on the southwest bank of the Müritz , to which it refers by its name. The municipal area extends from the entry of the Elde into the Kleine Müritz, including part of the upstream Müritzarm, to the two headlands of Großer Schwerin and Steinhorn, which protrude into the Müritz and are under nature protection, in the north. In addition, the southern part of the Müritz itself is part of the municipality.

The districts Gneve, Ludorf, Solzow, Vipperow and Zielow belong to Südmüritz.

The sights of the community of Südmüritz include the Ludorf manor from 1698 with a park, the Ludorf village church , an early Gothic brick building , the Vipperow village church , a field stone church , and the Zielow village church , a half-timbered building .

Vipperow is located on the federal highway 198 from Plau am See to Neustrelitz . The federal road is the most important west-east connection in the south of the Mecklenburg Lake District. Other districts can be reached via Kreisstraße 16 . The next motorway junction is Röbel / Müritz on the A 19 around 16 kilometers west of Vipperow. The nearest train station is in Mirow on the Neustrelitz – Mirow railway line
