Location of the municipality of Klink in the Mecklenburg Lake District | ||
Klink is a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is administered by the Lake Landscape Department in Waren , based in the non-official city of Waren (Müritz) .
geography
The municipality of Klink is a state-approved resort in the Mecklenburg Lake District. It is located on an isthmus between Müritz and Kölpinsee . The place has about 1000 inhabitants who live in the districts of Klink, Sembzin, Grabenitz and Eldenburg Süd.
history
Landowners included the von Gamm families (from 1375), later von Below , von Holstein (from 1650), Kähler, von Hahn and Hermann. Arthur von Schnitzler acquired the 646 hectare manor in 1897 and expanded the estate to 1,150 hectares. After the old manor house was demolished, he built Klink Castle until 1898. It was expanded in 1913. The estate was relocated after 1945. The castle served as the Red Army headquarters from May 1945 and as refugee accommodation from 1946 to 1968. After a renovation in 1971, it was a training center for the Ministry for Environmental Protection and Water Management of the GDR.
German reunification led to a complete change in infrastructure and the abandonment of previous uses. The castle then stood empty from 1991 to 1997. This was followed by privatization and renovation. It now serves as a hotel and was given the name Schlosshotel based on the history of its origins . The caretaker's house from 1898 was converted into the Hotel Altes Gutshaus in 1997 .
The Klink village church dates from 1736.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality Sembzin was incorporated.
In 1997 the Müritz Clinic was opened as a newly built rehabilitation clinic.
The FDGB holiday settlement from 1962 to 1990 got a new owner after the union holiday service FGGB was closed. It was expanded to become the Müritz Hotel .
The hotel, which opened in 1974, closed in early 2015 and was blown up on September 28, 2017; it is to be replaced by a new building.

coat of arms
Blazon : “Split by a wave cut; in front in blue a golden heron striding to the left; behind in gold a floating, pointed red tower with four windows one above the other. "
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on November 10, 2003 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 287 of the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Justification for the coat of arms: The wave-shaped split of the shield in the coat of arms symbolizes the location of the community on the Müritz. The heron stands for both the bird that occurs in the communal corridor and for nature conservation. According to the design principle of pars pro toto, the tower refers to Klink Castle on the Müritz. The tinging of the coat of arms in the colors blue, gold and red indicates that the municipality belongs to the Mecklenburg region. |
flag
The flag has yellow and blue stripes evenly across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth. In the middle of the flag, spanning one third of the length of the yellow and blue stripes, is the municipal coat of arms. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE KLINK".
Attractions
- Klink Castle was built in the neo-renaissance style in 1898 according to plans by Hans Grisebach (Berlin) for the Cologne client Arthur Schnitzler (1857–1917, ennobled 1914). The round corner towers and bay extensions are reminiscent of the Loire castles of the French Renaissance, for example. The building belonged to the von Schnitzler family until 1945. After the war it housed the municipal administration and apartments. The castle was structurally extensively renovated in the 1970s and was used by the FDGB holiday service as a recreation home at Schloss Klink . Now there is a hotel in it.
- Vacationers settlement Völkerfreundschaft the FDGB .
- Klink village church : Jacob Ernst von Holstein and Elisabeth Sophia von Bülow had the brick building on the road to the castle built in 1736. Next to it is the family crypt that was added later.
Economy and Infrastructure
There are numerous hotels and holiday apartments in the village, including the Hotel Schloss Klink and the Gutshaus Klink. The Müritz Hotel was blown up in September 2017 after two years of vacancy.
The place has a diverse range of leisure activities, for example a bowling facility at the castle hotel, indoor tennis center, soccer field, tennis court and marina. There has been a motorhome and caravan site in the Sembzin district since 2000.
In 1997 one of the largest rehabilitation clinics in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was opened. The Müritz Klinik, a facility of the FOCUS Medical Klinikgesellschaft mbH, looks after patients in the specialist areas of orthopedics, cardiology, urology, rheumatology and - as a specialty - transplant care and aftercare. The clinic was built on the site of the FDGB vacation settlement Klink, which existed from 1962 to 1990 and was built on with numerous bungalows. In the 1970s the Müritz Hotel was added to the property. During this time, the FDGB holiday service also operated the Klink Castle as a holiday property.
The activities of the MSV Beinhart Klink, in which the residents are active in the sports of gymnastics, football, volleyball, ice hockey and tennis, make up a large part of community life.
