Heinz Kippnick (born May 7, 1928 in Nikolaiken ) is a German graphic artist and heraldist .

Career

Kippnick, who now lives in Schwerin , was born in Nikolaiken, Sensburg district (East Prussia). He did an apprenticeship as a poster painter from 1947 to 1949 and then worked for two years as a poster painter at DEWAG-Werbung Schwerin. From 1951 to 1956 he was a commercial artist at HO Schwerin, before he worked for DEWAG-Werbung Schwerin for another five years in 1956. He has been working as a freelancer since 1961.

Some of his work as a poster painter can be found in the State Museum in Schwerin . Among other things, Kippnick designed posters for the workers' festival in the GDR .

However, Kippnick was best known for the municipal coat of arms he created in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . About a third of all municipal coats of arms in the state was designed by Heinz Kippnick or revised based on historical models. However, he also developed local flags, seals and family coats of arms.
