history
Zirzow was first mentioned as Siritzowe in 1230 as a property of the Broda Monastery . The place name “Zirzow” is of Slavic origin and can mean something like “place of Sirisa”, or simply church village (cf. Polish “cerkiew” for (orthodox) “church”). coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver a four-spoke, twelve-blade red mill wheel, above three (1: 2) five-petaled, gold-inscribed red roses with green sepals."
The coat of arms was designed by Lothar Herpich from Neubrandenburg . It was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on September 18, 2001 and registered under the number 252 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, the mill wheel symbolizes the over seven hundred years of existence of water mills in the town. The roses, borrowed from the coat of arms of those of Holstein, are intended to commemorate the owners of the place in the Middle Ages. In terms of the number of roses, reference is also made to the districts of Zirzow, Zirzower Mühle and Zirzow expansion. The colors correspond to those of the von Holstein family and are also intended to document that the place belonged to the former Land of Stargard. |
