Staven is a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is administered by the Neverin Office , based in the municipality of the same name .

geography

Staven is located about 14 kilometers northeast of Neubrandenburg in the ground moraine area of the Werder .

The district of Rossow belongs to Staven.

history

The area used to be inhabited by Slavs .

Staven was first mentioned in 1303. The name Staven is derived from the Stove family , who owned the place in the Middle Ages. The Romanesque church dates back to around 1300. a. the families von Altrock (from 1791), Seip (from 1840), Schläger (from 1853), Pätow (from 1891) and von Köppen (1919–1945) as well as von Baden (from 1992/96). The late baroque manor house from the 18th century was rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style in the 19th century and renovated after 1996.

Rossow was first mentioned as a rose in 1326, when the place was transferred to the Wanzka monastery . A half-timbered church from the 17th century was replaced by a neo-Gothic church in 1914 by the landowner Wilhelm von Oertzen .

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE STAVEN • LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".

  • Village church as a Romanesque stone church from around 1300 without a tower; wooden belfry with two bells, one of which is from 1878.
  • Late baroque Staven manor from the end of the 18th century, rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style in the 19th century

Rossow

  • Village church as a neo-Gothic , single-nave plastered building from 1914; Tower with an octagonal tiled tower helmet
  • Manor house as a baroque , single-storey, plastered half-timbered building from the beginning of the 18th century, demolished in 2011/2012 due to disrepair and replaced by a community hall in 2013.

Transport links

The federal highway 197 runs east of the community, as does the federal highway 20 , which can be reached via the Neubrandenburg-Nord junction about six kilometers away. On January 14, 1994, passenger traffic on the Neubrandenburg – Friedland railway line , where Staven is located, ceased.
