The agricultural community is located on the Kellerbach , which drains the Groß Keller See and the lakes to the Müritz further to the west ( Großer Kreßinsee ). history

The place Kelle first appeared in a document in 1230.

A village about two kilometers away, of which only ruins are left today, was called Klein-Kelle . The last owner of the Groß Kelle estate was the Glantz family until 1945 . During the GDR era, there was a state-owned estate in Groß Kelle . The central point in the village was the former manor house. A kindergarten, a sales point, a hall with catering and some apartments were housed here. In 1996 the manor house was rebuilt from the foundations, but not in the former style. Today it is used as a residence by the Heydebreck family .

In recent years, the former day laborers' cottages have also been expanded into comfortable apartments, and some new homes have been added.
