About this picture

Meesiger is a municipality in Western Pomerania in the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is located about 17 kilometers southwest of Demmin on the Kummerower See and belongs to the Demmin-Land office , which has its administrative headquarters in the former district town of Demmin . Until July 1, 2004 Meesiger was administered by the Borrentin Office.

Geography and traffic

Meesiger is about 14 km north of Stavenhagen . The B 194 runs east of the community. The community is located directly on the shore of Lake Kummerow.

History and economy

Meesiger was first mentioned on March 21, 1255.

The creation of Gravelotte is reported as follows: "It consisted of a property and was intended to commemorate the battle of the same name in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, in which the town's founder Fritz Ewald took part." (Source unknown)

Apart from a larger agricultural operation, the place now lives mainly from tourism and offers, in addition to a hotel, accommodation with private landlords and a campsite.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag . The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the region of Western Pomerania . It shows an upright griffin with a raised tail and the inscription "GEMEINDE MEESIGER * LANDKREIS MECKLENBURGISCHE SEENPLATTE".
