history

As the ending -ow suggests, the place name Nemerow comes from Slavic times. A village of Nemerow (documented 1170: Nimyrow , 1244: Nimirow , 1298: Nemerow = place of Nemir (Unfried)) supposedly belonged to the villages that were given to the monastery of Havelberg in 1170 for the foundation of the Broda monastery . The document in question (MUB 95, 563) has proven to be a forgery / modification from a later time.

In the 13th century, the district of Nemrow was divided into large and small Nemerow.

In 1298 they were bought by Ulrich Swave, Commander of the Order of St. John of Braunschweig and Gardow Land near Klein Nemerow on Lake Tollensesee and set up a commandery . From then on, both villages remained in the possession of the order, only finally became part of Mecklenburg in 1648 and, together with all other possessions of the Commandery of Nemerow, became a founding component of the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in 1701 .

Klein Nemerow: After the Reformation, the Nemerow Johanniter Commandery remained Catholic until 1552 until Duke Johann Albrecht I appointed Joachim von Holstein from Ankershagen as Commander, who secularized the order. In 1648 she came to Mecklenburg-Güstrow and in 1701 to the new Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. As a domain, it was initially an independent office and came to the Stargard office in 1794. The existing manor house was built in 1886. In 1932 the estate was settled by the Deutsche Siedlungsbank. The Bruno Thamm family took over the manor house and converted it into the Haidehof guesthouse and excursion restaurant in 1933 , which was expanded into the Seehotel Heidehof in 1997 . The place was incorporated on July 1, 1950.

Groß Nemerow was a rural village with almost 20 farmsteads that were later leased. In the 1920s there were 14 leaseholders and 15 farmers here.
A village church from the 14th century as a Gothic stone block building with a much younger half-timbered tower tells of the long ecclesiastical history of the medieval parish to this day. Groß Nemerow had an independent parish until 1671 . Later the place was parish to Prillwitz . Since 1748 he is the branch of Ballwitz .

During the GDR times, Groß Nemerow was expanded into a socialist model village and still has a good infrastructure today (large industrial areas, kindergarten , shopping facilities). The state primary school was closed at the end of the 2005/2006 school year.

In 1910, the (partial) duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz created a counts of Nemerow and registered it in Neustrelitz on January 26, 1910 . The first and only Countess von Nemerow was Marie (May), daughter of Georges Jametel and Marie von Mecklenburg-Strelitz . Marie (May) was a granddaughter of Strelitz's Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich V , who was not equal in terms of nobility, and who was thus promoted to the rank of count.
