history
Röckwitz and Gützkow belonged to Western Pomerania until the middle of the 20th century .
- Röckwitz
Röckwitz was first mentioned in a document in 1286 in a deed of donation to the Reinfeld monastery near Lübeck. The place was called Radekennice , Rekeritz and Radekevitz . The name could be translated as Freudenberg , it would also be possible to name it after the Slavic god Radegast . In the 16th century, the village was owned by Maltzahn . In the Thirty Years War the place was destroyed except for the church and later described as desolate and desolate. In 1654 Lorenz von Blücher acquired the place, in 1808 Alexander von Moltke and in 1862 the village was again owned by Maltzahn. In 1931/1932 the estate was settled (divided) and 48 settler sites were created in Röckwitz and Adamshof.
- Gützkow
The estate had been owned by the von Maltzahn family since 1428 . In 1579 it was pledged to the Duke of Mecklenburg. In 1617 the Preen family took over the estate as a pledge. In 1692 it was sold to Lorenz von Blücher . The manor house was built in Baroque style by Adam von Blücher (1696–1781) until 1777. It resembles the Tützpatz manor house , and probably has the same architect. The coat of arms of the von Blücher family can be seen above the portal. In 1808 the estate was sold to Count Moltke auf Wolde . In 1819 Wilhelmine von Blücher acquired the estate and in 1862 it was inherited back to the von Maltzahn family, who sold it to Rittmeister von Sydow in 1937 . After the Second World War, the manor house was used by the LPG and was in progressive decline after the fall of the Wall. In 1998/99, Helmuth Freiherr von Maltzahn, who also rebuilt Ulrichshusen Castle , acquired the ailing facility and began to rebuild it. The castle, the two cavalier houses, the manor wall with the entrance portal and the park were gradually restored. Residential use is planned. In addition, the manor complex serves as a venue for the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival . The park was created in the first half of the 18th century, only remnants have been preserved. On January 1, 1951 Gützkow was incorporated.
