Districts

history

Golchen is one of the oldest places in the region. The village was first mentioned in 1170 in a deed of foundation of the Premonstratensian monastery Broda . The Pomeranian dukes Casimir von Pomerania and Bugeslav grant the monastery the use of a Colke saltworks, "salinam que est in colkle". "Colke" goes back to the Slavic word "Chol" for salt. As early as 1173, the salt works were listed again, Bishop Berno von Schwerin assures the Dargun monastery income from salt production. These documents are listed in the Mecklenburg record book .

On April 30, 1945, Golchen was under fire by the Soviet army , killing 13 people. They were buried in a mass grave. In 2008 the story of the day was dealt with and a war cemetery was established in the Golchen cemetery thanks to financial means from the Ministry of the Interior of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , which was inaugurated on April 30, 2010.

In 1909 the Golchen volunteer fire brigade was founded.
