Location of the community Zislow in the Mecklenburg Lake District | ||
The municipality Zislow is a municipality in the west of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Malchow Office based in the city of the same name . Zislow has been a state-approved resort since 2011 .
The districts of Suckow and Langenstücke belong to Zislow. Suckow is an agricultural village. In the middle of the village there is a larger stable.
Geography and traffic
The community is located in the south of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, on the east bank of the Plauer See and south of Malchow . The Große Pätschsee is a larger lake within the municipality . Large parts of the community are overgrown with coniferous forests.
Near east of the municipality, the federal motorway 19 runs from Wittstock to Rostock, which can be reached via the Waren or Röbel / Müritz junction . The federal highway 198 runs south of the community. The next active train station is in the town of Malchow .
history
The area was settled by Slavs from the 7th to 9th centuries. The Slavic ramparts Zislow on the west bank of the Great Pätschsee testify to this .
Both Zislow itself and the district of Suckow were originally Slavic settlements, they were first mentioned in documents in 1255 and 1344, respectively. In 1338, today's deserted Clippatendorpe was first mentioned.
politics
Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE ZISLOW •".
economy
Tourism is a very important industry. In addition to a hotel and several holiday apartments, there are two larger campsites on the shores of Lake Plauer.
Attractions
The landmark of Zislow is the village church , consecrated in 1749 , which is presented in the rare form as an octagonal half-timbered building ( octagon ) and was renovated in 1990. Readings and concerts are now held there during the season. Open-air concerts are also held in the summer on the grounds of the cemetery surrounding the chapel and church .
In the cemetery in Suckow there are three war graves of two known and one unknown soldiers. Martin Schiele is also buried there. At the end of the village of Suckow there is an old manor house whose individual apartments are rented.
There is an observation tower south of the village .
In a wooded area near the road to Adamshoffnung there is a small bowl stone ( location ), a granite boulder with round indentations, which probably served ritual acts in connection with the god Thor . If you follow the road for another 400 meters you will come across the remains of a Bronze Age barrow ( location ) that was excavated in the 1980s. Other barrows and the Urdolmen of Zislow 2 are nearby.
