coat of arms
Blazon : "In blue over a silver corrugated shield base, in it five (3: 2) green linden leaves, a jumping golden horse, accompanied in the upper left corner by a six-petalled silver flower with a sixteen-petalled inner wreath."
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Weimar heraldist Michael Zapfe . It was approved together with the flag on January 5, 1998 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under No. 146 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, the horse is supposed to symbolize the horse breeding and equestrian tradition in the community. The blossom stands for a rare wild plant, the nodding milk star, which the inhabitants strive to preserve and protect. The base of the wave shield is intended to clarify the location of the municipality on the Baltic Sea. According to the design principle of the pars pro toto, the linden leaves represent the avenue of linden trees leading to the castle and shaping the townscape. In terms of number, the sheets refer to the five districts. |
flag
The flag is striped in blue, yellow and blue across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth. The blue stripes each take up one fifth, the yellow stripe three fifths the length of the flag cloth. In the middle of the yellow stripe is the municipal coat of arms, which takes up three fifths of the height of the flag. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE ZIEROW • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
