About this picture

Seehof is a municipality in the south of the Nordwestmecklenburg district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Lützow-Lübstorf Office , based in the Lützow community .

geography

The municipality of Seehof on the west bank of the Schweriner See (northern part, outer lake ) borders directly on the north of the state capital Schwerin . The terrain here rises up to 27 m above the level of the lake, which is 38 m above sea level. NN lies. The Paulsdamm southeast of Seehof divides the Schwerin lake into the outer and inner lake.

Seehof is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lübstorf in the north and east (partly sea border), Schwerin in the south and Klein Trebbow in the west.

The Hundorf district belongs to Seehof .

history

The name Seehof was given in 1838 by Grand Duke Paul Friedrich of Mecklenburg for the districts of Wickendorf (now part of Schwerin) and Hundorf. Hundorf was first mentioned in a document as early as 1171.

Tourism now plays the main role in the community, which has a holiday park with a sailing and diving school , a campsite, hotels and guest houses.

politics

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "• GEMEINDE SEEHOF • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".

Transport links

A city bus connection (line 8, Schwerin local transport) connects Seehof directly with Schwerin. The location of Seehof between the federal highways 104 and 106 enables fast connections to Wismar and the Baltic Sea as well as via the A 14 in the direction of Berlin and Hamburg. The nearest train station is in the neighboring municipality of Lübstorf (route from Wismar to Schwerin)
