Lübstorf is a municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The community is administered by the Lützow-Lübstorf Office , based in the Lützow community . Until December 31, 2004, the municipality was the administrative seat of the Lübstorf / Alt Meteln office .
geography
The community, located on the west bank of the Schweriner See (Outer Lake), is only about ten kilometers from the center of Schwerin . The lake reaches its greatest width at the height of Lübstorf with 5000 m, the islands of Horst and Rethberg belong to the municipality. The terminal moraine , which stretches along the western shore of the Schweriner See, is bounded in the west by the Aubache valley . The community has a share in the landscape protection area Trebbow - Rugensee .
Lübstorf is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Zickhusen and Bad Kleinen in the north, Hohen Viecheln in the northeast (sea border), Dobin am See in the east (sea border), Leezen and Schwerin in the southeast (sea border), Seehof in the south, Klein Trebbow in the southwest and Alt Meteln in the north-west.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE LÜBSTORF • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".

One of the sights of the community is Wiligrad Castle , which was built from 1896 to 1898 on behalf of Duke Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg . Today the premises are used by the State Office for Land Monument Preservation Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and a local art association. Another attraction is the historic reception building at Lübstorf station, built in 1897. The railway building was built especially for the Duke of Mecklenburg and served him as a reception hall for his guests, with whom he drove to Wiligrad Castle, a few kilometers away.
Economy and Infrastructure
Lübstorf offers infrastructure for the community and the surrounding area with a school, a day care center, pharmacy, doctor's practice and hotel as well as various shopping opportunities. In 1994 a specialist clinic for psychosomatic illnesses and addictions was established in Lübstorf .
Transport links
The community Lübstorf is located on the federal highway 106 from Schwerin to Wismar and has a train station on the Ludwigslust – Wismar railway line . The junctions to the motorways 20 and 14 are 16 and 11 kilometers away, respectively.
