Züsow is a municipality in the northeast of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The community is administered by the Neukloster-Warin Office , based in the city of Neukloster .

geography

The community of Züsow is located in a terminal moraine area about 15 kilometers east of Wismar and is surrounded by a large forest area. The protected sundew can still be found in the surrounding alder quarries . The Passberg on the northern edge of the municipality (border with the Rostock district) reaches 110 m above sea level. NN.

The districts of Alt Tollow, Bäbelin, Teplitz, Tollow and Wakendorf belong to Züsow.

history

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community Tollow was incorporated.

Wakendorf: Landowners were u. a. the Schröder families (from 1852), Hans Dortsehy (from 1913) and Jaspar von Oertzen (1924–1945).

politics

Since the local elections on September 4, 2011, the municipal council has consisted of five people: four representatives of the CDU (three of them women) and one single mandate holder .

Attractions

The Gothic village church Bäbelin from the 15th century is a small, two-bay hall church made of brick and field stone with a choir with a ⅝-end . The transverse, neo-Gothic west tower was built after 1872 with a field stone base and a gable roof with a turret .

Economy and Infrastructure

Today a construction company, a cattle plant, a wood processing company, metal processing company, a tea shop and a fire protection company work in Züsow. In addition, a rescue station is operated by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in the village.

Historical clothing, wooden figures and wooden toys are made in the Burmeister family's medieval courtyard . For this purpose, replicas of historical siege engines are being built on the farm. The world's largest Blide is under construction. There are also regular historical events with actors from all over Europe.

Transport links

The federal motorway 20 passes Züsow only a few kilometers away (junctions Zurow and Neukloster ). The community is located on the connecting road from Wismar via Satow to Rostock , which runs parallel to the motorway. The next train station is in the neighboring community of Neuburg .
