Rüting is a municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The municipality is administered by the Grevesmühlen-Land office with its seat in the city of Grevesmühlen , which forms an administrative community with the office.
geography
The municipality of Rüting is located in the valley of the Stepenitz River nine kilometers south of Grevesmühlen and about 20 km northwest of Schwerin .
Rüting is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Upahl in the north-west and north, Testorf-Steinfort in the east, Mühlen Eichsen in the south and Veelböken in the south-west.
The districts of Diedrichshagen, Schildberg and Vierhusen belong to Rüting.
The area around Rüting is characterized by agriculture and several wind turbines . The district of Diedrichshagen, whose village church is listed, was able to retain its original appearance as a farming village. Also under monument protection is the watermill in Rüting that was still in use until the mid-20th century.
The main road from Grevesmühlen to the state capital Schwerin runs through the municipality of Rüting. The A 20 runs 4 km to the north (junction Grevesmühlen ). In nearby Grevesmühlen there is a rail connection to Lübeck and Wismar .
history
Rüting : The street village developed on the country road. The districts of Siebenhausen and Vierhausen were created through settlement in the 1930s. The Rüting watermill from the 18th century was operated until the end of the 1950s.
Diedrichshagen was mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register in 1230. The neo-Gothic village church of Diedrichshagen dates from 1861. Parts of the west tower have been preserved from the medieval church from the 15th century.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription “GEMEINDE RÜTING • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG”.
