The Grevesmühlen-Land office is located in the middle of the Northwest Mecklenburg district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
Eight municipalities are united in this office to carry out their administrative business. The Grevesmühlen-Land office has formed an administrative partnership with the city of Grevesmühlen since January 1, 2004, with the simultaneous transfer of the duties of the area of responsibility transferred to the city. The municipality Gägelow was incorporated on April 1, 2005 after the dissolution of the office Gägelow . The former municipalities of Testorf and Steinfort merged on January 1, 1999 to form the municipality of Testorf-Steinfort . The municipality of Hanshagen was incorporated into Upahl on January 1, 2011 . On January 1, 2014, the Papenhusen community took office. On May 25, 2014 Börzow , Mallentin and Papenhusen merged to form the Stepenitztal municipality . On January 1, 2019, the community of Plüschow was incorporated into Upahl.
The official area almost encloses the city of Grevesmühlen , it lies between the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck and Wismar . No place in the office is more than 20 kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast. The Stepenitz flows through the southwest of the office . The area is predominantly agricultural; The intact nature and the proximity to the Baltic Sea mean that tourism is becoming increasingly important.
The A 20 Baltic Sea motorway , the parallel federal highway 105 (from Wismar to Lübeck ) and the railway line from Lübeck to Rostock run through the Grevesmühlen-Land office .
