In Office Neuburg six municipalities have joined forces to do their administrative business. The administration is located in Neuburg . The office is located in the northeast of the district of Northwest Mecklenburg and borders on the district of Rostock and the free city of Wismar .
The official area includes the mainland area opposite the island of Poel , northwest of the Hanseatic city of Wismar . The coastline of the municipalities of the office is about 15 kilometers long, the Bodden waters include (from north to south) the Salzhaff , the Kielung , the Zaufe , the Breitling and the Wismar Bay . The Boiensdorfer Werder peninsula separates the Salzhaff from the Zaufe. The slightly undulating terrain reaches 101 m above sea level. HN the highest point in the official area.
In the course of the territorial reform in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in view of the low population of the Neuburg office, a takeover of the non-official municipality of Poel is under discussion.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "AMT NEUBURG • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
