The Rehna office is located in the west of the Northwest Mecklenburg district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). 10 municipalities and the city of Rehna (official seat) are united in this office . 17 communities originally belonged to the office: the communities Bülow, Demern and Groß Rünz merged on June 13, 2004 to form the community of Königsfeld. The formerly independent community of Löwitz was incorporated into the town of Rehna on the same day. On July 1, 2011, the municipalities of Köchelstorf and Wedendorf merged to form the municipality of Wedendorfersee. On May 25, 2014 Nesow and Vitense were incorporated into Rehna.
The official area extends from the east bank of the Ratzeburg lake on the state border with Schleswig-Holstein over the valleys of the Maurine and Radegast , which flow in a south-north direction to Stepenitz . The area is predominantly agricultural; The intact nature, especially in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve , the northern half of which is in the Rehna district, means that tourism is becoming increasingly important.
The Baltic Sea A 20 ( Lübeck - Rostock ) runs past the northern border of the Rehna office . The federal highway 104 (from Lübeck to Schwerin ) crosses the administrative area from north to south. A railway line runs from Rehna via Gadebusch to Schwerin.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The office does not have an officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "AMT REHNA • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
