Köchelstorf (until August 1, 1999 Köchelstorf b. Rehna ) is a district of the municipality Wedendorfersee in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). Until July 1, 2011, the place was an independent municipality.

geography

Köchelstorf is located in a hilly area east of the Radegast river, about halfway between Lübeck and Schwerin . The Wedendorfer See separates Köchelstorf from the neighboring town of Wedendorf .

history

The place, first mentioned in 1230 as Chochelestorp , is characterized by agriculture with wide fields and pastures. The local agricultural cooperative mainly deals with the cultivation of grain.

The former municipality of Köchelstorf, which also included the districts of Petrol and Groß Hundorf (both previously independent municipalities were incorporated on July 1, 1950), merged with Wedendorf on July 1, 2011 to form the new municipality of Wedendorfersee .

Transport links

Connecting roads lead from Köchelstorf to the neighboring town of Rehna (3 km), to Gadebusch (7 km) and the town of Grevesmühlen (14 km). From Rehna there is a rail connection to Schwerin .
