Location of Rodenberg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

Rodenberg is a district of the municipality Stepenitztal in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

history

Rodenberg was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230 as Rodenberge . The place was sold by its owner, the Duke of Mecklenburg, in 1341 to the Bülow brothers , who sold it on to the Bishop of Ratzeburg Heinrich II von Wittorf in 1376 . Since that time Papenhusen has been part of the bishop's table and thus to the later Principality of Ratzeburg .

Rodenberg and the other districts of the Papenhusen community on the southern side of the Stepenitz therefore differed in their ownership structure due to the predominance of large, free farming sites. There were two of them in Papenhusen, four in Rodenberg and two in Rüschenbeck, some of which have remained in the family's possession for centuries. In Rodenberg, the Ren (t) zow family can trace their farm position back to 1379, when their ancestor was enfeoffed by the Ratzeburg bishop Heinrich II von Wittorf.

Three out of four resident farms are located at the top of a small rectangular Angers on the Stepenitz . The fourth is at the entrance to the village. In the past, Rodenberg was connected to Hanstorf by a bridge over the Stepenitz . But this jetty was removed at the end of the 1950s. Later there was only a small transition walkway.

Before the merger of the communities Börzow , Mallentin and Papenhusen to form the Stepenitztal community on May 25, 2014, the place was part of the Papenhusen community.
