Stepenitztal is the name of a municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It belongs to the Grevesmühlen-Land office , which forms an administrative partnership with the city of Grevesmühlen and has its administrative headquarters there.
geography
The administrative area of the municipality is located immediately east of the city of Lübeck and belongs to the Hamburg metropolitan region .
The community emerged from the merger of the communities Börzow , Mallentin and Papenhusen on May 25, 2014. The community is named after the Stepenitz River .

history
Blüssen was first mentioned in a document on October 16, 1346.
Börzow was mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register in 1230 and belonged to Mummendorf and was then an independent church village from around 1299, owned by Reinfeld Monastery since 1371 and became a state domain in 1582 . The small village church of Börzow dates from the middle of the 15th century.
Gostorf was first mentioned in 1230 as Villa Gozwini ( village of Gozwin ) in the Ratzeburg tithe register . The place is called Gosenstorpe in 1404 and Gustorpp in 1519 . In 1773 it became a domanial village in the country. From around 1820 there was a school.
Kirch Mummendorf was first mentioned in 1230 and 1234 and was a church village. The early Gothic brick church Kirch Mummendorf dates from the second half of the 13th century and has been rebuilt many times.
Papenhusen was first mentioned as Poppenthorp in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register . Free farmers worked the land.
Rodenberg was first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register of 1230 as Rodenberge . Landowners were the von Bülow family (from 1341) and from 1376 Tafelgut from the diocese of Ratzeburg , in which free farmers worked the land.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE STEPENITZTAL • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
