Dragun is a municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in Germany. The community is administered by the Gadebusch office based in the city of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Dragun is located east of the small town of Gadebusch and about twelve kilometers northwest of the state capital Schwerin. The municipality falls to the east to the upper Stepenitz with the Cramoner See . The Vietlübber See is located directly north of the village of Dragun .
Home construction in recent years has resulted in a 75% increase in the population; typical for Mecklenburg communities near large cities.
Dragun is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mühlen Eichsen in the northeast, Cramonshagen in the east, Brüsewitz in the south, Lützow in the southwest, Gadebusch in the west and Veelböken in the northwest.

history
Dragun was first mentioned in a document in 1230. The name is probably derived from Dragun , the Slavic locator .
Vietlübbe was first mentioned in 1230 as Vitelube . The name comes from Old Slavonic and means something like place of the Vitolub family or place of Vitolub , the profit-loving. The late Romanesque church was mentioned in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register .

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE DRAGUN • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
Attractions
- The Romanesque village church of Vietlübbe , which has meanwhile been renovated at great expense, was built in the 12th century on a cross-shaped floor plan. It was mentioned in 1230.
- The Drieberg Hof manor from the 19th century has been renovated. Here was the ancestral estate of the von Drieberg family .
Transport links
Dragun is on the connecting road from Schwerin to Gadebusch, which runs a little further north parallel to federal road 104 . The next train station is in Gadebusch, from Schwerin there are national connections.
