Greaves is the smallest municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the office of Schönberger Land with its seat in the city of Schönberg .

geography

The municipality of Grieben is located between the towns of Grevesmühlen and Schönberg in a hilly area that is bordered by the Maurine , Radegast and Stepenitz rivers.

Grieben is surrounded by the neighboring communities Stepenitztal in the north and east, Rehna in the south, Roduchelstorf in the south-west and Menzendorf in the west.

The district of Zehmen belongs to greaves.

history

The village, first mentioned in 1237, is of Slavic origin and was laid out as a broad rural village with two parallel village streets. The large farmhouses are well preserved - the entire village ensemble is now a listed building .

politics

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE GRIEBEN • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".

Economy and Infrastructure

Agriculture plays the main role in this very good soil area. The DB Netz AG has a branch cracklings.

Transport links

The A 20 ( Lübeck - Wismar ) runs between Grieben and the district of Zehmen, the next driveway ( Schönberg ) is 6 km west of the community. The Grieben station is on the Lübeck – Bad Kleinen railway line .
