The national highway 105 (abbreviation: B 105 ) is a federal highway in Germany . It begins in Greifswald and ends in Selmsdorf on the B 104. The B 105 runs at several points on the route of the Northeast German Hanseatic Route , a holiday route that largely follows the course of the historic Hanseatic Ostseestrasse .
history
The section between Rostock and Ribnitz was completed in 1842, the section from Lübeck via Grevesmühlen to Wismar in 1847. On this section there are still two historic chausseehouses , the Chausseehaus in Mallentin is a listed building. The B 105 is part of the former transit route from Lübeck to the Sassnitz ferry port .
In order to do justice to the increasing traffic density, the section between Rostock and Stralsund was expanded in the 1970s. In addition to the basic expansion, the cross-section and curve radii were enlarged for the most part, to which the avenue trees in particular fell victim. Today you can only find street trees in the section between Mönchhagen and Altheide on the southern side.
Up until the completion of the A 20 , the sections in front of Rostock, Stralsund and around Ribnitz-Damgarten in particular were subject to congestion.
In connection with the renovation of the Rostock-Ost motorway junction (A 19) in the 1990s and the new construction of the Hanseatic Center, the B 105 was relocated to the newly built Bentwisch bypass.
The planning approval decision for the Ribnitz bypass was available on June 14, 2002 and became legally binding after the four-week public display in Ribnitz-Damgarten. On November 2, 2004, the new building, around 5.8 kilometers long and costing around 25 million euros, was opened to traffic.
The former section of the B 96 between Brandshagen (near Stralsund) and the Greifswald bypass has been part of the B 105 since 2006, which now merges with the B 109 coming from the A 20 without crossing.
With the completion of the A 20, sections of the B 105 in the Wismar and Rostock area were downgraded, so that the B 105 is interrupted in these areas.
The last two-lane construction section of the Stralsund bypass on the B 105 was opened to traffic on September 1, 2009. It is 3.6 kilometers long and costs around 13.3 million euros. The first, four-lane construction section with a length of 1.9 kilometers and costs of 11.6 million euros has been under traffic since July 2004. The entire construction phase is 65 percent financed from subsidies from the European Regional Development Fund. With the traffic opening, the restructuring of the federal trunk road network on the mainland of the Stralsund region is largely complete, so that the city center of Stralsund can now be bypassed completely. For the Stralsund bypass, total costs of 134 million euros were incurred.
Planned expansion
A new construction of the route east of Rostock is planned in the federal traffic route plan. The main aim of the project is to improve the connection between the Rostock regional center and the Ribnitz-Damgarten medium-sized center and the Stralsund regional center. In addition, this connection also provides a connection between the tourist areas on the Baltic Sea coast in the course of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula chain to the A 19 and thus to the motorway network.
In the Bentwisch area, the new 3-lane route with two-way overtaking options is to begin and end in the existing road east of Rövershagen. The old route can no longer accommodate the daily traffic volume of almost 20,000 vehicles per day and is very prone to congestion.
