The federal highway 99 (abbreviation: B 99 ) is a federal highway in Germany . It begins in Zittau on the B 96 and ends in Görlitz on the B 6 .
history
The National Highway 99 was about 1934 by Zittau Görlitz ( R 6 ), Rothenburg / Oberlausitz , Lodenau , Freiwaldau and Sagan ( R 122 ) until after Neusalz to R 5 established.
In 1945 the section east of the Oder-Neisse border was integrated into the Polish road system. The section from Görlitz to the border has been downgraded. In 1949, the GDR renamed the Reichsstraßen in their area to trunk roads . This gave the line the name F 99 .
With the German reunification in 1990, the line was given the designation B 99 . In the course of the construction of the Görlitz bypass ( Bundesstrasse 6 ), the route was lengthened. It now leads (as of 2011) from Brautwiesenplatz north through the city until it meets the B 6.
