Course of the road

The federal highway 495 (abbreviation: B 495 ) is a federal highway in Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. It begins in Glinde near Bremervörde on federal road 71 / federal road 74 and leads via Lamstedt and Hemmoor (here intersection with federal road 73 ) to Wischhafen . There, the road users can use the Elbe ferry Glückstadt-Wischhafen the same cross and reach the national road 495 on the right bank of the Elbe in Gluckstadt the bundesstraße 431 .

history

The road between Lamstedt and the east was built as a regional connecting road as early as 1862. This road ended at the ferry that crossed the Oste River. On 1 October 1909, the ferry was replaced by a newly built transporter bridge replaced.

From 1969 to 1974 a new road bridge was built over the Oste. With the completion of this bridge on May 30, 1974, the transporter ferry was shut down and the federal highway 495 was put into operation.
