The federal highway 168 runs through the town of Lieberose for about 1.5 km with the B 320 (which was introduced relatively late) on the same route. The section from Eberswalde to Beeskow was only upgraded to a federal road in autumn 2003.

Between Peitz and Cottbus, today's B 168 was a part of the B 97 until a few years ago , which now runs further east on a new route.

Between Cottbus and the direction of Döbern, it runs on a section of the old B 115 .

European roads do not run on the route of the B 168.
