The national highway 229 (abbreviation: B 229 ) is a German national road in North Rhine-Westphalia . It begins in Langenfeld (Rhineland) and ends in Soest .

history

This street was called Solingen-Lenneper or Lennep-Altenaer Staatsstraße in 1865 .

The section of Bundesstraße 229 from Solingen to Lennep was already included in the German trunk road network when it was first numbered in 1932, at that time as part of trunk road 60 (FVS 60). When the network of Reichsstraßen , as the trunk roads were called from 1934, it was included in the new Reichsstraße 229 in the mid-1930s.

At Arnsberg, a short stretch was "transferred" to the A 46 .

Changes in history

Between Radevormwald and Remscheid , the main road had to be relocated for a few kilometers during the construction of the Wuppertalsperre , otherwise it would run below the current water level of the Wupper. Therefore a new bypass was built.

When the Wuppertal Railway in Radevormwald was shut down, the tracks near the center were removed and a bypass road was built. The B 229 was then moved from the city center of Rad to this bypass.

Between Arnsberg - Müschede and the Hüsten motorway junction (A 46), the B 229 was moved to the newly built Hüsten bypass.

particularities

In Remscheid-Lennep , the B 229 runs a short distance together with the L 58 (formerly B 51). In the east of Radevormwald, the B 229 runs a short distance together with the B 483 .

In Bruges (Lüdenscheid) , the B 229 runs a short distance together with the B 54 .

In Werdohl , the B 229 runs a short distance together with the B 236 .

In Remscheid, in a large roundabout ("Insel") on the B 229, the bus stop of the Remscheid main train station is located.
