Bundesstrasse 86 near Straussfurt

The federal road 86 (abbreviation: B 86 ) is originally a 77 km long German federal road that leads from Hettstedt in Saxony-Anhalt to Straussfurt in Thuringia . Today 45 kilometers are still dedicated as the B 86, namely the northern section from Mansfeld to the federal motorway 38 near Sangerhausen (24 km) and the southern section from Sachsenburg to Straussfurt (21 km). The middle section in between was downgraded to the state road after the commissioning of the federal highway 71 . In the future, the southern section will also be omitted and instead the route from the Heldrungen junction on the A 71 via Bad Frankenhausen to Sondershausen will be dedicated as the B 86.

course

The B 86 branches off from Bundesstraße 180 at the Hettstedt bypass . It runs to Leimbach together with the federal highway 242 in a southerly direction. Following the southern direction, you will pass Mansfeld , Siebigerode and Annarode . The rest of the route, starting north of Riestedt to Oberröblingen, was re-routed, starting with the Sangerhausen bypass being released in 2000. Since 2009, Riestedt has been completely bypassed by the B 86 to the east. In 2005 the local connection between Riestedt and Sangerhausen was relocated. Following the Sangerhausen bypass, there has been a connection to the federal motorway 38 at the Sangerhausen- Süd junction (16) since 2000 . The further course between the A 38 and Sachsenburg became in 2013 and 2015 in Thuringia and in 2014 in Saxony-Anhalt to the country roads 230 and 3086, as well as to the district and municipal road (in Heldrungen), due to the parallel location of the newly built federal motorway 71 graded.

In Sachsenburg, again starting at the federal highway 85 , the B 86 extends further south to Kindelbrück and Weißensee before the north of Straußfurt in the bundesstraße 4 opens.

Until the opening of the Hettstedt - Mansfeld (- Klostermansfeld) (B 180) bypass, it began in Hettstedt and ran parallel to the B 242 in Mansfeld for a distance of 500 m . In Sachsenburg it ran for a distance of 400 m with the federal highway 85 until 2015 .

It is planned to also stage the further course between Sachsenburg and Straussfurt . In the future, the federal highway in Thuringia will lead from the A 71 junction in Heldrungen via Oldisleben and Bad Frankenhausen to Sondershausen on federal highway 4 .

State of development

Riestedt bypass

The B 86 runs in two lanes over the entire route. The exception is the Sangerhausen bypass with the Riestedt bypass that exists in the Sangerhausen area . Here, the new building on inclines was implemented as a 2 + 1 route with additional lanes. The Annarode - Siebigerode - Klostermansfeld bypass is currently being planned and was classified as an additional requirement in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 .
