Siebigerode is a district of Mansfeld and is located in the Mansfelder Land on the southern Harz . The place with about 600 inhabitants is on the B 86 to Sangerhausen , Halle and Bernburg .

history

The place was probably settled a long time ago, as is evident from finds in the overburden of a quarry from 1842. There were a number of quarries in Siebigerode; the largest quarry west of the village on federal highway 86 is under nature protection and can be entered.

Stone work, gravestones and, above all, millstones were made from the Siebigerode sandstone . The deposit was used in the 18th century for the production of around 1,000 millstones annually . In 2008 there were no more quarries in operation.

On January 1, 2005 Siebigerode was incorporated into the city of Mansfeld.

Sports

There are two sports clubs in the village, the BSC 1930 Siebigerode with the football and table tennis departments and the square bowling club, 1. PKV 1969 Siebigerode, the record champion in square bowling .
