B420

Village end End of  Altenglan

The federal highway 423 (abbreviation: B 423 ) is mainly in the Saarland and leads from the German-French border at Mandelbachtal- Habkirchen to the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Altenglan . On the French side, the road continues as D 974 (until the beginning of the 1990s N 74 ) to Saargemünd ( Sarreguemines ). In Altenglan she meets the federal highway 420 .

It takes its way across the municipality of Mandelbachtal , crosses the urban areas of Blieskastel , Homburg and Bexbach , all of which are in the Saarland , and then continues beyond the border with Rhineland-Palatinate via Waldmohr , Schönenberg-Kübelberg , Brücken ( Pfalz) and Glan-Münchweiler to Altenglan .

In Homburg, the B 423 has been expanded to four lanes from the A 6 junction Homburg to the Ringstrasse. It has a median between the A 6 junction Homburg and Am Forum.

In Blieskastel between the exit of the city center and Pappelhof, the B 423 is 3-lane (1/2 lane in the direction of Homburg).

The B 423 at Blieskastel / Webenheim has had a special road construction feature since October 2009. In the connection to the L 105 there is a so-called turbo roundabout .

history

The B 423 in Homburg was between Saarbrücker Straße and Richard-Wagner-Straße part of the Kaiserstraße from Metz via Saarbrücken to Mainz .

The Nancy-Bingener Strasse was declared route impériale 92 on December 16, 1811 .

In August 1983 the 4-lane B 423 in Homburg was opened to traffic from the A 6 junction Homburg to the Ringstrasse.
