history
The written tradition for the main town of Mimbach , on whose district Webenheim originated, begins in the 8th century. Webenheim did not develop as "Weibenau" until the High Middle Ages . The name was then similar to the numerous place names on "-heim" in the area. After 1459, the places were under the principality of Pfalz-Zweibrücken . Mimbach was the seat of the parish , while Webenheim Mimbach exceeded the population after the Thirty Years War and became the seat of the mayor's office . In Mimbach and Webenheim, several families survived the war, so that the old dialect was retained there beyond the Thirty Years' War, which differed significantly from the dialect in the surrounding towns.
Became Bavarian with the Palatinate in 1816 , the village formed a municipality with Mimbach until 1843. This year the ban was divided in proportion to the number of inhabitants. In the referendum on January 13, 1935 in Webenheim, almost all eligible voters spoke out in favor of the reintegration of the Saar region into the German Reich. This means that after Mimbach, Webenheim achieved the second highest approval rating for the reorganization, ahead of all other municipalities in the Saar area.
As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent municipality of Webenheim was assigned to the city of Blieskastel on January 1, 1974. Webenheim has been a district and a municipality since then.

Culture and sights
In the center of Webenheim rises the Protestant Martin Luther Church , which can be seen from afar, was consecrated in 1867 and was the work of the builder Anton Hurt. The church was built in the neo-Gothic style as a successor on the site of a chapel built in 1464 that had become dilapidated . The church, built from sandstone blocks, is a hall church with five window axes . There are smaller double-arched windows under the windows. The bell tower with a pointed helmet stands on the west side . The church suffered considerable damage during World War II , which could be repaired by 1957. During the restoration of the church after the war, there were also redesigns. The painter Probst designed new colorful window glazing . The church is equipped with one of the most valuable organs in the Saarland, which was built in 1873 by the company EF Walcker ( Ludwigsburg ) and has a beautiful, carved case .
In the alleys around the church, the old town center, there are still some farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Webenheim is known for its "Bauernfest", which takes place in July each year; it is celebrated for nine days. The festival goes back to originally loose gatherings of the farmers around Webenheim, who met once a year. Among other things, horse races were held, a tent to protect against bad weather was added, and then market operations.
Today the "Webenheimer Bauernfest" is one of the largest folk festivals in Saarland. In addition to a large marquee, horse races are held on its own grass racetrack, an amusement park and a farmers' market with livestock market complete the festive offer.
