Alschbach is a district of Blieskastel-Mitte, a district of Blieskastel in the Saarpfalz district , Saarland .
geography
Alschbach is located approx. 1.5 km west of the city center of Blieskastel in a deeply cut valley through which the stream of the same name flows.
history
Alschbach is first mentioned in a document in 1236. The place name is derived from a "stream near a sanctuary". Older spellings of the place name contain the Old High German "alag" for sanctuary or place of worship. The brook that gave the place its name flows around a mountain on which there is evidence of a Mercury shrine in Roman times, which, according to experts, goes back to a vodan cult site of the Teutons, and in Christian times there was a chapel dedicated to St. Michael.
In the center of the village at the "Kleine Steege" there is a damaged stone cross, which is considered to be the oldest in the town of Blieskastel. According to tradition, it was built after the Thirty Years War . Also in the center of the village is a cross that was "built in 1900 by the Alschbach community for the glory of God".
In 1937 Alschbach is incorporated into the town of Blieskastel.
On November 13, 1955, St. Mary's Church on the south-western outskirts of Alschbach is consecrated. It is a branch church of Lautzkirchen .
The "Lange Tal" is located at the western end of the village. In this a memorial stone placed in 1995 commemorates the 14th and 15th centuries. Wieblingen settlement that fell in the 19th century.

economy
A little outside of Alschbach on the “Mittagsweide” is the tree nursery “Gut Lindenfels”. There is a sand pit at the exit towards Lautzkirchen .
traffic
Alschbach can only be reached by car via an impasse , the "Alschbacher Weg", coming from the direction of Lautzkirchen . About the "Long Valley" and the "short valley" Although Alschbach with the Blieskasteler district Biesingen connected, but only by field service roads that are not released for normal traffic.
