The Church of St. Maria is a Catholic church in Alschbach , a district of Blieskastel in the Saar- Palatinate district of Saarland . The church is a branch church of St. Mauritius in Lautzkirchen and bears the patronage of the Immaculate Heart of Mary . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.

History and architecture

The church was built between 1954 and 1955 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Schulte II on the south-western outskirts of Alschbach. The foundation stone was laid on September 10, 1954. The inauguration of the completed church took place on November 13, 1955.

The church building is a hall church with a simple, unplastered sandstone facade . The west side of the nave is preceded by a squat tower .

The Saarland artist Marianne Aatz designed the windows of the church . She also participated in their execution.

The church organ was built in 1995 by Hugo Mayer ( Heusweiler ). The on a loft established sliderchest -instrument has 11 (18) register , divided into 2 manuals and pedal . The disposition is as follows:

Bells

The three bells as Te Deum date from 1956 and were cast by the French bell foundry Paccard in Annecy. The plenum is rung on most Sundays and public holidays. The clock beat is divided into the following bells: as 1 and ges 1 for the quarter hours, es 1 for the full hours.
