history

The written tradition begins in the 8th century. In the second oldest document of the Hornbach Monastery of May 12th, 796, Count Wido handed over the hamlet of "Myndenbach" as a precarious to the Hornbach Monastery, founded by his forefathers, in favor of his and his brother Warinus Seelenheil. The abbey became the court and landlord in the area, which also included the places "Weibenau", today's Webenheim , "Frieshausen", today's Freishauserhof, and "Scheldenburn", today the Grünbacherhof. After 1459, the places were under the principality of Pfalz-Zweibrücken . Mimbach was the seat of the parish, while Webenheim Mimbach exceeded the population after the Thirty Years War and became the seat of the mayor's office. In Mimbach and Webenheim, several families survived the war, so that the old dialect was retained there beyond the Thirty Years' War, which differed significantly from the dialect in the surrounding towns. Became Bavarian with the Palatinate in 1816 , the village formed a community with Webenheim until 1843. This year the ban was divided in proportion to the number of inhabitants. In the referendum on January 13, 1935 in Mimbach, 99.1% of the 494 eligible voters were in favor of the reintegration of the Saar region into the German Reich, only four votes for the status quo . This means that Mimbach had the highest approval for the resettlement before all other municipalities in the Saar area.

As part of the Saarland regional and administrative reform , the previously independent municipality of Mimbach was assigned to the city of Blieskastel on January 1, 1974 . Mimbach has been a district and a municipality since then.

Protestant church in the center of Mimbach

The Protestant Christ Church is worth seeing . The nave, a simple rectangular building with four window axes, was built in 1767/69. At the same time, the church tower, the lower part of which dates from the 14th century, was raised. Because of its size, the church is also called "Cathedral of the Bliestal". The builder was the Palatinate-Zweibrücken agricultural director Hellermann. Its interior is a typical example of a sober Calvinist prayer room church. The church building is considered to be the most important Protestant church building of the 18th century in the entire Saarpfalz district .

In the alleys around the church, the old town center, and down to the Bliesmühle, there are still some listed farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries.
