The federal highway 232 was about ten kilometers long, one of the shortest federal highways in Germany . It ran from the B 8 in Opladen via the (today's) Leverkusen districts of Bergisch Neukirchen and Pattscheid to the B 51 in Burscheid .
history
The later B 232 was paved by the Prussian provincial government around 1860 and named provincial road . In 1934, Provinzialstraße became a Reichsstraße and after the end of the Third Reich , when the Basic Law came into force in 1949, Reichsstraße became a federal highway.
Since the road ran parallel to the A 1 and A 3 motorways and mainly only connected the two junctions Opladen (A 3) and Burscheid) (A 1), the B 232 was downgraded to a state road on January 1, 2010 and received the Name L291 . This also applies to the adjacent parts of the B 8.
