The federal highway connects the two cities of Düsseldorf and Wuppertal . It begins as a city street south of Düsseldorf on the A 59 in the Garath district and after four kilometers reaches the city of Hilden . It crosses the city and after another five kilometers east of the city of Haan, it crosses the federal highway 46 . After a total of 17 kilometers, the federal road reaches the Vohwinkel district of the city of Wuppertal. A junction to the Sonnborner Kreuz has been set up in the further course of the street . After a total length of about 21 kilometers, the federal road ends at a junction with federal road 7 in the area of the Wuppertal-Elberfeld-West district, Nützenberg district .
