History / other

Bundesstraße 478 was set up in the mid-1960s to improve the connection from Bonn to the Bergisches Land . The piece from the former federal highway 8 to the federal highway 560 was rededicated in favor of a state road.

Until 1967 the northeastern part of the former Bröltalbahn ran along the course of the B 478 . Shortly after the end of the unprofitable rail traffic, the rails were completely dismantled.
