The national highway 204 (abbreviation: B 204) was a state road in Schleswig-Holstein . It was replaced by the Federal Highway 23 in 2016. Originally, the B 204 was an abbreviation of Bundesstraße 5 between Itzehoe and Heide .
history
The Bundesstrasse 204 originally ran from Itzehoe via Hanerau-Hademarschen and Albersdorf to Heide . This highway was raised to Reichsstraße 204 in 1937 .
The first roads from Albersdorf to Heide and Meldorf were built in 1852–1854. The road from Itzehoe to Hanerau was built in 1863. After the construction of the Kiel Canal , the Grünentaler Hochbrücke was built in 1892 as a combined road and rail bridge between Albersdorf and Hanerau-Hademarschen.
In 1986 the old Grünentaler Hochbrücke was demolished and replaced by a bridge of the same name north of it with separate lanes and railway lines.
