Previous routes and names
The directory of rural roads in Baden from July 1, 1901 divides today's federal highway 292 into three different sections:
- The road from Langenbrücken to Aglasterhausen was called Baden State Road No. 77 .
- The road from Aglasterhausen to Auerbach (and on to Würzburg ) was designated as Baden State Road No. 4 .
- The country road from Auerbach to Königshofen was called Baden State Road No. 5 .
The national highway 292 was introduced to the 1937th
Adelsheim / Osterburken bypass
As early as the 1970s , a bypass was planned in the building land in order to prevent traffic from the Altkreis Mosbach towards the A 81 from flowing through the towns of Adelsheim and Osterburken . These are namely bottlenecks , especially Adelsheim with the narrow main street in the old town . The bypass road not only connects the Neckar-Odenwaldkreis better with the A 81 , but also the industrial areas in Osterburken and Adelsheim. These are located in close proximity to the bypass road . The construction of the Eckenberg Tunnel was delayed for about a year until May 2017 for financial reasons. The Osterburken tunnel, the Neckarelz-Osterburken railway line, runs parallel to the Eckenberg tunnel . The stop of the same name is located in the immediate vicinity of the Adelsheim Nord junction on that railway line. The Osterburken bypass was opened to traffic in 2008. The section Adelsheim North - Adelsheim West is to be completed in 2021. In the future, a country road (transversal) is to be built in the direction of Buchen in order to reduce through traffic in Bofsheim , Zimmer , Seckach and Bödigheim . A junction is to be added to the bypass .
