The federal road 7a (abbreviation: B 7a ) in West Thuringia served as a motorway feeder from the B 7 near Eisenach / Krauthausen to the A 4 , Herleshausen junction . The B 7a ended at the Thuringian / Hessian border and on the Hessian side went over to the state road 3251 towards Herleshausen and Wommen . It also served to connect the Opel assembly Eisenach and commercial area Stedtfeld to the highway, this in 1998 below the Werratalbrücke of A 4 on the Werra the road tunnel Hörschel by the Hörschelberg applied, the national road 1021 north of Hörschel to the B 7a joined.
The main road was built and used in the 1970s as a (provisional) transit route between the border control points Herleshausen and Wartha ; With the completion of the autobahn between Eisenach-West and Herleshausen and the autobahn border crossing point at Wartha , this temporary arrangement became inoperable in 1984. In 2009 the B 7a was downgraded to Landesstraße 1017 .
