The federal highway 520 (abbreviation: B 520 ) was a German federal highway in northern Hesse in the district of Kassel and in the independent city of Kassel . She went in the 1960s from the state road  3215 and was produced in 2010 in the district of Kassel, at this very well in Kassel for county road  downgraded 36th

course

The L 3215 (part of the former B 520) begins in the Kassel district between the villages of Istha (zu Wolfhagen ) in the north and Balhorn (zu Bad Emstal ) in the south at its junction (approx.  340  m above sea  level ) from the B 450 . From there it leads roughly in an east-west direction through the municipality of Schauenburg - first through its districts of Martinhagen and, after crossing the Ems overflow, Breitenbach .

Shortly afterwards, the L 3215 reaches its highest point at the Hoofer Pforte south of the Schauenburger Burgberg ( 499.9  m ) near the Schauenburg district of Hoof , at a little more than 400  m . This is where the Kassel – Naumburg railway crosses , on which the Hessencourrier museum railway runs.

After that, the L 3215 runs as a bypass road south of the Schauenburg districts of Hoof and Elgershausen , where the Kassel – Naumburg railway crosses again. Then after crossing the Bauna (approx. 239  m ) it passes  the Baunatal district of Altenritte in the north-west. After crossing the federal highway 44 , the road reaches the Kassel - Bad Wilhelmshöhe ( 295.6  m ) junction north of Baunsberg ( 413.4  m ) , after which it takes you to the L 3218 , which leads through the Kassel district of Brasselsberg and to Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe ( Konrad-Adenauer- Strasse) passes.

At the traffic light intersection, which is located at this road crossing, the A-44 connecting road changes to the K 36 (Kassel part of Korbacher Straße and part of the former B 520). This leads in a west-east direction through the Kassel district of Nordshausen , passing the Dönche to the southeast, to the B 3 ( Frankfurter Strasse ; 161.7  m ), where the K 36 ends.

The route with the B 3 sharing - - the former B 520, however, went a little further to the northeast and toward the city center to the intersection ( 145.2  m ) Ludwig Moon -Straße - On Auestadion / Frankfurter Strasse .

history

The then L 3215 was straightened in the mid-1960s within the Schauenburg district of Breitenbach by a new road layout and thus experienced an upgrade from the L 3215 to the B 520.The latter received traffic policy in the 1970s due to the bypassing of the Schauenburg districts of Hoof and Elgershausen Meaning.

In July 2010 the B 520 was downgraded to the L 3215 (district of Kassel) and K 36 (city of Kassel) because the A 44 has been a parallel main traffic axis since the late 1970s.
