Nordshausen is a district of Kassel .
history
Finds of pebble slate implements in three fields near Nordshausen indicate human settlement in the Stone Age. The place was first mentioned in 1076 in a document from Hasungen Monastery . In 1257, Count Adalbert von Schauenburg founded the Cistercian convent in Nordshausen . In the course of the Reformation it was abolished in 1526. Landgrave Philipp awarded the property to the University of Marburg . The monastery church and tithe barn have been preserved to this day. The Nordshaus monastery church is considered the oldest church in Kassel. In the middle of the 16th and beginning of the 17th century, Nordshausen gained short-term importance as a spa by opening up a healing spring.
The choral society was founded in 1887, the sports club in 1890. In 1903 Nordshausen was connected to the Kassel-Naumburg small railway , followed by electrification in 1914. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1926. Nordshausen was incorporated into Kassel in 1936 together with Harleshausen , Niederzwehren , Oberzwehren , Waldau and Wolfsanger . In 1952, 1971 and 1974 the housing estates Grubenrain, Dornländerweg and Krümmershof were built. The youth fire brigade was founded in 1988, the cultural association in 1991, and Kassel's first children's fire brigade in 2008.
