German Brewery Museum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Brewery Museum was founded in 1952 on the initiative of the Hofbräuhaus in Munich and was the most famous museum of its kind in Germany . The focus of the exhibition was the historical and technical development of beer brewing . The oldest exhibit was a drinking vessel from the 4th millennium BC . Furthermore - in addition to tankards and beer glasses - models of large breweries and a complete microbrewery were on display.

The museum was supported by the Deutsches Brauereimuseum eV The collection formerly shown in the Munich City Museum has meanwhile been dissolved and returned to the owners or taken over by the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum .

In Bavaria alone, however, there are still around 30 special museums dedicated to beer.
