Brasselsberg is a district of the city of Kassel in northern Hesse .
Geographical location
The Brasselsberg district is located in the southwest part of the Kassel city area. It borders in the north on the Bad Wilhelmshöhe district , in the east on the district-free area Dönche , which is a landscape protection and in parts nature reserve , in the south-east on the district Nordshausen , in the south on the city of Baunatal and in the south-west on the community of Schauenburg ; in the northeast, a small branch, actually a somewhat remote district exclave , which is located north of the Dönche and extends south of Drusel valley road and on both sides of Heinrich-Schütz-Allee to just before the Marbachshöhe , meets the district of Süsterfeld-Helleböhn .
The main part of the built-up Brasselsberg area extends on the southeastern edge of the Hohen Habichtswald , of which large parts in the south and southeast belong to the wooded area of the district. The district lies below or to the east of the Brasselsberg ( 434.2 m above sea level ), which belongs to this low mountain range , on which the Kassel Bismarck Tower , built in 1904, stands in the forest .
The Brasselsberg rivers include the Dönchebach and Grunnelbach , which come from the Habichtswald. The largest arterial road is that of the Druseltalstrasse south to the junction Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe the federal highway 44 leading Konrad-Adenauer -Straße. From here the Korbacher Strasse lead as part of the state road 3215 (former federal road 520 ) to Nordshausen; this is also where the Nordshäuser Straße - Hohefeldstraße road runs through Brasselsberg .
Local council election
The turnout in the 2016 local council election was 58.55%.
Place name
The housing estate, which only emerged at the beginning of the 20th century, was named after the Brasselsberg of the same name and was initially part of Nordshausen. The original correct name was Nordshausen settlement on Brasselsberg until 1936 . This has been preserved in the linguistic usage of the inhabitants to this day, because they indicate their place of residence with "I live on Brasselsberg" (instead of: I live in Brasselsberg).
Others
- In the middle of the village is the Protestant Emmaus Church (built from 1952), which belongs to the Kurhessen-Waldeck Evangelical Church.
- The Brasselsberg day care center is sponsored by the City of Kassel.
- In 1911 a branch line of the Herkulesbahn was laid from the Luisenhaus to Brasselsberg. The traffic on this meter-gauge railway was stopped in 1965 and the track systems dismantled. Since then, the district has been served by buses (lines 21, 51, 52, 53, 55).
- Due to its relatively recent development as a pure garden city at the beginning of the 20th century, Brasselsberg does not have its own cemetery.
