Altenritte is a district of Baunatal in the district of Kassel in northern Hesse (Germany) with 2397 inhabitants (2019) spread over an area of ​​2.4 km².

Geographical location

Altenritte is located in the eastern part of the Habichtswald Nature Park west to southwest of the 413.4  m above sea level. NHN high Baunsberg . About northwest of Altenritte lies on the Bauna , which flows through the southern areas of Altenritte as a western Fulda tributary and is fed by the Lützel , for urban flood protection of the Schefferfeld polder . history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 775. In 1330, Landgrave Heinrich enfeoffed the knight Johann Riedesel with goods in “few rides” (old rides) and for “grosin rides” (large rides).

The two linden trees in front of the church are natural monuments . Below them are the remains of a baptismal font from 1787 and an old community table.

On January 1, 1964, Altenritte merged with Altenbauna and Kirchbauna to form the municipality of Baunatal, which became a town in 1966 after merging with Großenritte .
